Dennis R. Schutte Killed in Auto Accident in France

(July 12, 1956) – Airman 2/c Dennis R. Schutte, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard R. Schutte of High Street, was reported killed last week in an auto accident on the Luxembourg-Verdun Highway just west of Longuyan in France, the Air Force said.

The Nutley son and an air force friend were fatalities when their car rammed a tree.

Schutte was assigned to the 1271st AACS Squadron at Etain Air Base.

While attending Nutley High School, Schutte was a member of the crew. He received his diploma in 1953. Schutte was also very active in youth activities at Grace Episcopal Church.

Schutte enlisted in the Air Force in October 1953, and received his basic training at Sampson Air Force Base, N.Y., and also was stationed at Biloxi Air Force Base, Miss.

He was sent overseas in December 1954.

Schutte, a graduate of Nutley High School, has an older brother, Dale, who is also in the Air Force.
